Review – Yamazaki 2010-2021 Essence of Suntory Islay Peated

Looking to drink Yamazaki whisky in Singapore? This sample of Yamazaki 2010-2021 Essence of Suntory Islay Peated was drunk at The Swan Song located at 41A Boat Quay, Singapore 049830. This sample was shared with us by a good friend.

Nose: sweet delocious umami soy sauce, salty crab sticks, perfectly balanced, rich and peppery grassy, yogurty and milky

Palate: light and sweet cocoa chocolate, light mango and guava, fast to finish and elegant in the mouth, well balanced spicy peat against fruit

Honestly, this may be one of the best Japanese whiskies I’ve ever tried… assuming it is Japanese whisky and not just Scotch bottled in Japan. It strikes me as very Bowmore-esque and Arun agrees. And Arun has had probably most of the Bowmores available in modern times. A hint or a direction of the old-style, but not quite it. I personally think it is very much delicious in this expression alone; amazingly balanced, complex, and comes with all the older-style flavours associated with old Bowmore.
