Nose: soy saucy, umami
Palate: dry and grassy stem viney, bitter medicine with a touch of rich wine grapes, crunchy sugary sweetness in a brown sugar fashion
The nose strikes in a similar vein to the The Scotch Malt Whisky Society 114.5 “Smoked sausages and curry” Longrow 14 Years Old 1990 but distinctly more pungent and strong. However, the profile was definitely interesting and complex. Holding some of the signature medicinal vineyness that Strathisla has, this one has quite a distinct sweetness in the form of a clear sugariness.
