Review – Speyside 1979 38 Year Old bottled by Hideo Yamaoka

Looking to drink Benriach whisky in Singapore? This sample of Speyside 1979 38 Year Old bottled by Hideo Yamaoka was drank at The Swan Song located at 41A Boat Quay, Singapore 049830. This bottle was provided by Steve and I have reliable word that the bottle is from Benriach distillery. This bottle is from Hideo Yamaoka’s Professor Munakata bottling series.

What does Benriach whisky taste like? This Speyside 1979 38 Year Old bottled by Hideo Yamaoka tastes like:

Nose: soft cherry garcia, light old whisky smell, cut fruits and mango

Palate: old whisky taste with distinct light smoky peat and light, fresh and fragrant, pulpy mango taste

What do we think of this bottle of Benriach whisky?

This is what soft and elegant means without implying “strongly lacking in taste”. Subtle and distinct, juicy and thick, a clash of contradicting sensations. Definitely not one to be missed.

Where can you get Benriach whisky by the glass in Singapore?

You can drink Benriach whisky by the dram from The Swan Song, there are interesting independent bottlings like the BenRiach 1997, 24 Years Old by Malt Grain & Cane and Speyside 1979 38 Year Old bottled by Hideo Yamaoka as pictured above.
