Review – Master of Malt Braeval 2014 8 Year Old

Looking to drink Braevel whisky in Singapore? This sample of Master of Malt Braeval 2014 8 Year Old was sampled during a private Bring Your Own Bottle (BYOB) event at The Single Cask located at 30 Victoria Street Caldwell House, CHIJMES, #01-25, 187996.

Nose: mushroomy-earthy and creamy-malty

Palate: mushroom umami and a odd apple-fruity and bready sweetness

This is such a different take on an expression of earthiness that I was absolutely taken aback. I had drunk shitty self-made mushroom-infused whisky (with thyme) before and this absolutely beats that in flavour. Palate still retains some of that Braevel fruitiness I’ve gotten in another bottling but this is far and away from Glen Ord.
