What does Port Ellen whisky taste like? This Glenscoma Port Ellen 15 Years Old 1981 62% bottling tastes like:
Nose: sweet light honey and buttery, well coating and oily
Palate: sweet and sour fleshy pineapples and mangoes with an extremely light coating of peat
What do we think of this bottle of Port Ellen whisky?
In my opinion, I agree with Arun who states that it is a “simple Port Ellen”. This one is very similar to the Old Bothwell Port Ellen 29 Years Old 1983. Distinctly honey-sweet distillate with a nice, balanced and elegant peat that hides very well. However, the nose does reveal a more oily profile; initially we wrote motor oil, but upon further nosing it leads to a more organic kind of oiliness which we will peg to motor oil.
Where can you get Port Ellen whisky by the glass in Singapore?
You can buy Port Ellen whisky by the dram from The Swan Song, such as the Glenscoma Port Ellen 15 Years Old 1981 62% as shown above and the James MacArthur Port Ellen 12 Years Old 59% Fine Malt Collection (Dark Oloroso).
