What does Port Ellen whisky taste like? This Douglas McGibbon Port Ellen 17 Years Old 1982 43% Provenance bottling tastes like:
Nose: lighter, thinner moderately suphite sherry, fairly intense but balanced grassy peat grapey
Palate: light and thin, nose translates well, clean bitter grassy peat balanced against a thinner, less juicy but more intensely and distinctly grapey sherry
What do we think of this bottle of Port Ellen whisky?
A fairly toned down Port Ellen sherry – one can only wonder how much better it would be at the original cask strength. I had many opportunities to revisit this bottle and what I can say would be that the whisky only gets better with time. While the body is still thin, the sherry on the palate grew more potent, with less sulphite notes and more richly peated old sherry notes.
Where can you get Port Ellen whisky by the glass in Singapore?
You can buy Port Ellen whisky by the dram from The Swan Song, such as the Glenscoma Port Ellen 15 Years Old 1981 62% and the James MacArthur Fine Malt Collection Port Ellen 12 Dark Sherry.
