Review – Croftengea Loch Lomond 12 Red Wine Cask

Looking to drink Loch Lomond whisky in Singapore? This sample of Croftengea Loch Lomond 12 Red Wine Cask by The Single Cask for the St Joseph Old Boys Association was drank at The Swan Song located at 41A Boat Quay, Singapore 049830. Many other Loch Lomonds/Inchmurrins are available at The Swan Song

Nose: sweet vegetal peat (after opening up)

Palate: mildly nutty, grassy vegetal peat, incredibly spicy and fierce

This bottle is a very interesting one. The first time it caught my eyes, it was because the bottle shape was that of a classic The Single Cask bottle. The first time I nosed it in the past, from the bottle itself, it was extremely pungent with a very strong, repulsive sulphitey peat. However, after a few more pours and letting it open up over time, the bottle has come to have a much more pleasant, vegetal peat akin to younger, modern Laphroaigs. The palate, however, is very much like that of a classic Loch Lomond; fierce with a strong spice/alcohol influence.
