My general impression of Aberlour has been that is comes with a distinct fruity apple profile, especially from the first time I tried the Aberlour 12 Double Cask on my Talk Show, the Whiskies and Weebs Talk Show. This Aberlour Glenlivet, estimated to be from the 1980s, certainly kept to the trend.
